Wage and salary disbursements consist of money paid to employees, including the compensation of corporate officers; commissions, tips, and bonuses; and receipts in kind, or pay-in-kind, such as the meals furnished to the employees of restaurants.
  2. These dollar values have not been adjusted for inflation. For valid comparisons over time, the data should be adjusted from nominal to real values using an appropriate inflation index, such as the GDP Implicit Price Deflator or the Consumer Price Index.
